Program Notes

These solo piano pieces should be played as transitions between other concert works. Both movements are the result of improvisations on the piano that were developed into short pieces. Interlude 1 is reminiscent of romantic composer Eric Satie. Interlude 2 resembles popular music of the 1960s, particularly with the ostinato chord progressions in the left hand.
